How To Make Your Own Fabric Softener
My husband and I have been living on a budget for well....always. We have tried our best to find alternatives to spending a fortune on everyday household items. My hubby being the mastermind that he is (have to stroke his ego a little every now and then) figured out how to make homemade laundry detergent. I never see him make it so honestly I don't know how he does that :). I however have figured out how to make fabric softener. I consider that essential when doing laundry. Not only does it smell good, but it takes the static out of your clothes and of course softens them. Considering that I do my best to spend as much time as possible riding horse, helping the hubby outside, taking the dog for walks, and well lets just say that I spend more time with dirt (and other things) on my clothes than I do without. Not to mention that I have a very energetic 5 year old who well she is my mini me! Needless to say we have a ton of laundry all the time!
Back to the fabric softener.....the best part of this is that basically you can customize this to whatever scent you like. Here is what you need:
Empty gallon size container
4 cups of Distilled White Vinegar
8 cups warm water
1 Family size bottle (664 FL.OZ) of Suave Conditioner (pick your favorite scent)
Stir ~DO NOT SHAKE~ We used some disposable skewers to stir it.
I used plastic wrap to cover my label so that it was a bit more protected if it gets wet ;)
Enjoy! ~KKD

KKD Green Smoothie!
I agree that this does not look the most appetizing, but I assure you it is delicious!
Even my 5 year old was begging me for her own glass of this! What is it you ask? Well here is the recipe:
2 cups fresh baby spinach
1 banana
3/4 cup almond vanilla milk
1/2 cup greek yogurt
1 tablespoon creamy peanut butter
1 cup frozen tropical smoothie blend fruit mix
1 carrot
blend well in your blender until smooth
This makes a lot (24 oz), but I use this as a complete breakfast. I am not really sure how many calories are in this, but it is full of essential vitamins and minerals.
I plan on adding flax seed to my next smoothie...I have heard that this really adds some great texture and flavor.
Have a happy and healthy week!

New Product! Tail Bag for your horse and ribbon headbands!
My horse almost always has a tail bag on. I really hate when she gets it really muddy, full of burrs, full of knots, and so on. Of course it always seems that she manages to lose them from time to time. I got sick of having to buy ones at the store b/c they never have the pattern that I want! I prefer to use Fleece material b/c it really seems to stay in the best. I have tried lycra material, but honestly I need a lot more practice on my sewing machine before I put them out for sale :). I will get live shots of Kashmere wearing her new tail bag..stay tuned!
Important things to know before using a tail bag:
1. NEVER...EVER tie the tail bag onto the tail bone. Doing this literally can cause the tail bone to lose circulation and fall off. This is not a myth...it really can happen.
2. Make sure that the tail is free of debris and brushed out completely
3. After braiding and fastening the tail bag, go back and make sure that you have the top securely tied to the hair. Then double check that you did NOT tie the top to the tail bone.
4. Enjoy your horse looking stylish with a custom tail bag!
Pricing is simple!
All tail bags start at $30.00
Depending on what pattern you would like your fleece/ribbons to be will determine the final price along with shipping.
P.S. if it is fly season I highly recommend using a fly sheet b/c the tail will be in a nice braid....not quite as efficient at swatting flies away :).
Ribbon headbands: child size: $8.50
adult size: $12.50

Braids and such
I love spending time with my daughter....and now that she has decided that she "must" grow her hair out like Rapunzel I am loving this opportunity to play stylist! Unfortunately she got her Mommy's thin blah hair :(. So with lots of great styling products and a very willing child...I still manage to come up with new and kreative ways to braid her hair! The pictures don't quite do it justice...lol...and all my other projects are littered everywhere..oh well at least I am being productive right?! People have asked me where I learned how to braid, who taught me, and how I come up with the different ways of doing this. The answer is well..I taught myself when I was younger (around the age of 7) starting on barbie's hair, then forcing my sister to let me do her hair, and then mostly on my horses. I perfected french braids by practicing on my horses' tails and manes. Often in gymnastics my fellow teammates and I would also braid each other's hair. It really is super easy to do! My baby doll wanted me to make her hair look like a crown...so here is my attempt at that! Don't forget that you can also check us out on Pinterest and Facebook! Coming soon.....a new line of KKD hair accessories! I will have a line for people and horses! I will also be adding tail bags, and several other new products over the next few months! With the help of my hubby I will be also adding milk crate storage bins with decorative lids! Lots more to come!
